Juneteenth Celebration
June 19th
Centennial Lakes Park, Edina, MN
Edina’s Juneteenth Celebration is a community-led event planned by Hennepin County Joint Community Police Partnership and the Anti-Racism Collective — with support from the Edina Police Department, City of Edina, and a generous grant from Explore Edina. Juneteenth commemorates the day in Galveston, Texas that the last enslaved African-Americans learned of their freedom nearly two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It became a Federal Holiday in 2021 and is an observed city holiday in Edina, MN.
Our celebration in 2025 featured entertainment by KMOJ radio personality Chantel Sings who will emcee, music by DJ S Dot, and live performances from Kijana Gant and Duniya Drum and Dance Company

Local author Kayla Gant signed free copies of her book, Ebony’s Friendship Adventure: The Magical Bracelet Quest.

Nanny’s Jamaican Kitchen and Soul to Soul BBQ provided delicious food.
