Juneteenth Celebration

Edina’s Juneteenth Celebration is a community-led event planned by Hennepin County Joint Community Police Partnership and the Anti-Racism Collective — with support from the Edina Police Department, City of Edina, and a generous grant from Explore Edina.
Juneteenth commemorates the day in Galveston, Texas that the last enslaved African-Americans learned of their freedom nearly two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It became a Federal Holiday in 2021 and is an observed city holiday in Edina, MN.
